Screencast-O-Matic and YouTube

NOT BASEBALL

I have published videos on Screecast-O-Matic to my computer so that I can later upload them to Microsoft Streams. This let me use their fairly user-friendly captions (which students can then search) and lets me put videos essentially behind a paywall where students need to be logged in to see the videos.

I tried their YouTube upload recently. It uploads to a Screencast-O-Matic page at YouTube (I think- I may have authenticated at some time in the past and I seem to be able to edit the video). It certainly gives a link of the form somup.com/… You can still set the video to be unpublished or private to give some privacy. It still auto captions. Editing the captions seems more difficult than usual on YouTube so I may use the upload to YouTube for quick class announcements and not for math intensive videos. I guess it is good to have options.

By the way I have not published here a lot because I am sharing my mini-blog pieces on technology on CTEIHappenings lately. I’ll probably post more here again beginning in May or July as my time in the HFC CTEI again winds down.
