June 26 (13-12)

Detroit lost 4-3. It looked like the Braves 0-9 pitcher, Kawakami, was going to take a tough loss when it was 1-0 after six and a half and he a pinch hitter took his spot in the seventh.

Joel Zumaya had gotten the last out in the Braves sixth. In the seventh, however, he had walked two when he gave up a home run to Chipper Jones. Chipper’s teammates tricked him into taking the field alone in the top of the eighth for another ovation.

The Braves added a run in the eighth. In the top of the ninth Cabrera homered with one out. Then three Braves pitchers walked four Tiger hitters in a row for a third run. The game ended when Johnny Damon took a pitch on a 3-2 count. The umpire later admitted that it should have been a ball.
