The Tigers won 4-2 over the White Sox today to move withing half a game of first place. The Tigers had 5 of their 10 hits in the third which allowed them to score 3 times. Verlander allowed 2 of his 4 hits in the third also which was when the Sox scored. Quintin Berry dove to catch the last out and celebrated with his usual enthusiasm.
I bought a couple standing room tickets and my daughter and I met my sister in her 337 Row D seats. The standing area was full of entertaining, but not annoying drunks. One guy would run down the entire section giving high fives after exciting plays. One semi-sober guy discussed baseball with me and even had reasonable opinions about the players and possible acquisitions.
It was fun to be there with 45,000 other Tigers fans celebrating the Tigers closing in on the Central lead. This may be the high point for awhile as Chris Sale, the best White Sox pitcher this year, starts against Porcello tomorrow.
